Skins Next move: RG3 or Flynn

Rich Tandler shed some light on the options the Redskins have and how they should address their QB woes of the last 20 years here. It appears to a split among redskins nation in whether the teams should pursue Matt Flynn or whether they should trade up to draft RGIII. Tandler notes that Flynn would be due around possibly 13 million a year through free agency and RG3's contract would be somewhere in the neighborhood of Cam Newtons (4 years and 22 million). That's 40 million cheaper than Whats most think it would take to sign Flynn. But it would take ALOT to move up to #2 in the draft to select RG3, at least 2 first rounders.

Right now I'm leaning toward the Flynn camp for a couple of reasons.
1.) Flynn is a free agent unlike Kold and Cassell (other Backup QB's to get huge deals) Kansas City and Arizona gave up assets the aquire them along with giving out huge contracts when they traded with New England and Philadelphia. The skins would be able to retain assets (the few that they have).

2.) The Skins have one of the lowest cap figures in the league, which is unusual for a Dan Snyder era football team. The team doesn't really have any big contracts and with all the blown money in the past, what would be the big deal in rolling the dice on Flynn. Rex Grossman couldn't throw 6 tds in a game if he was passing to Jerry Rice and Randy Moss against a HS JV football team. The contract could be front loaded and would only be about half guaranteed, Skins could release Flynn after 2 seasons if it didn't work.

3.) The team could use all the talent they need and giving up picks at this point would be missing out on a chance to get more talent and depth on the roster. RG3 has undeniable talent and potential but the skins barely have any assets to give up as it is. That 6th pick could be used on Trent Richardson who is the highest rated RB to enter the draft in couple of years.

Neither is guaranteed to work, many would argue that the skins would still suck no matter what they did. Buy if I were in the front office I'd opt for Flynn
