Knicks WILL NOT come out of the East WITHOUT DEFENDING

"I enjoy going against Melo, because I always win," Bryant said with a grin.

The Knicks front office has done some good things in the past year or so to put together a solid roster through drafting, trades and acquiring free agents. They've put a team together that can put up 140 points on any given night. However, they can also give up 140. Thats is a recipe for getting to the playoffs but not getting to the finals which is what three of their primary figureheads (Mike D'Antoni, Carmelo Anthony, and Amare Stoudemire) have done  throughout their careers. When the Knicks traded for Melo last yr, i stated that they would never win a title as long as D'antoni was their head coach. His philosophy of outscoring teams just doesn't work in the playoffs when the game tends to slow down.
Last season we witnessed (pun intended) the Dallas Mavericks transform themselves into a Defensive team and beat Lebron James and the Miami Heat in the finals. It was the same thing NY was hoping that they could pull of when they signed Tyson Chandler, drafted Iman Shumpert in the past draft and hired Mike Woodson (former Hawks coach) as a defensive assistant coach. But so far the Knicks have shown signs of being the same defensively incapable team that they have been.

Its still early but its isnt a good sign when you are out-rebounded and shot a lower percentage from the field in each of the first three games. Rebounding is a statistic related to defense because the more you rebound the less possessions the other teams has. Less possessions= Less shots = better Defense ... The jury is still out on this team, they only thing that they proved in their only win was that they could outscore another team... which we already knew... I thought this quote by Kobe was interesting after last nights game

"I enjoy going against Melo, because I always win," Bryant said with a grin.
